Quake Rocket Jumping done Quick

Not your average speedrun, QRJDQ aims to find the fastest possible times through Quake’s rocket jumping maps by splicing together the best demos from multiple collaborators, continuing the Quake done Quick legacy.

QRJDQ demonstrates the unique physics of Quake and the creative things one can do by mastering it.

How to record demos

Want to send a demo in? Here are some things you need to know.

  • Use cpqwsv and classic Prozac-TF — the physics and gameplay are slightly (but significantly) different on Mega-TF or even Shaka’s modern Custom-TF. You can go to my rocket jumping server for this.
  • Jumps must work on the first try. If a jump fails and you get teleported back, you need to /kill and re-enter the area. This is because some maps teleport you to different spots when you fail. A flawless run must begin from the right spots :)
  • It helps to go custom and select RJ, single shotty, gren, imperial penguin speed, spanner, dispenser, telepads, and hack skill. Then you can make a tele right before the entrance to the next stage.
  • The obvious path isn’t always the fastest. If it looks like you can skip something, try.
  • Priming grenades before you enter an area is a good way to shave off a few seconds of time.
